  1. WARNING!! Our front end requires you to drill holes into your frame. Please be sure to verify what is behind the area you are drilling to prevent damage to your car, or injury to yourself. Failure to do this could result in injury or death.

ALWAYS!! Wear proper safety equipment and personal protective gear when using hand and power tools.

Please read the installation instructions fully before beginning your project.

    1. Our VIP-R front end is a Custom front end assembly designed to fit the E-Z-GO TXT frame. The front end is a customizable unit that will require a paint job before put into service. (We also offer complete custom painted front and rear body’s on our website. Please call for availability.) Before prepping your car for paint we recommend that you dry fit the front end to ensure proper alignment of the plastic parts, as well as alignment of any custom graphics you plan to paint.

    2. Remove the stock front end from the car. Start by removing the front roof uprights, and the running board or lower side trim. (see fig. 1 and 2) You are now ready to remove the stock front cowl. To do this you will need to drill out the large rivets along the top edge of the dash, and drill out the rivets that attach the bottom of the front end to the frame. (see fig. 3 and 4) With the stock front end removed you have access to the dust covers that protect and hide the front shocks and the wiring harness. At this point you can remove these items or you may leave them be depending on the look you want with the new front end. ( see our website for various ideas of what the front end will look like with the shock cover installed.)

    3. With the stock front end removed you are ready to begin. (fig. 5) Install the lower quarter panels onto the car by lining the holes in the quarter panel up with the roof up right holes in the frame. (fig.6) (use the stock hardware that was holding your roof for this step.) Be sure to slide the rear edge of the panel into the slot on the front edge for the stock dash unit.

    4. Once the quarter panels are installed on both sides of the car and securely held in place for the dry fit you are ready to install the u-nuts and install the front cowl. (fig. 7) Install the supplied u-nuts to the four holes on the top of the quarter panels. (fig. 8)(two on each side)

    5. Slide the cowl into the front slot along the leading edge of the stock front dash. (fig. 9) With the cowl slid into the slot rotate the cowl down until the holes line up with the holes on the quarter panels. Slide the stainless Allen bolt through the cowl, and into the U-nut on the quarter panel. (fig. 10)Repeat this process on the opposite side. (fig. 11) The cowl should now be attached to both quarter panels and installed into the slot on the stock dash. You can now drill a small pilot hole for each of the seven screws that will be installed later through the original rivet holes on the dash. (fig. 12)

    6. Place the trunk insert into the hole in the front cowl. Using the four holes in the trunk’s lip mark the cowl to drill the corresponding holes. (fig. 13) Also, carefully mark through the two holes in the trunk to the frame on the front of the car. (fig. 14) Remove the trunk insert at this time. Drill the four newly marked holes in the cowl to line up with the four holes in the trunk lip. Slide the smaller supplied U-nuts onto the front cowl where the holes were just drilled. (fig. 15) Also carefully drill the frame to accept the ¼-20 bolts and supplied spacers. (fig. 16) Slide the bolts in from the back side of the frame, slide the spacers over the bolts, and tighten the nuts to hold the spacers and bolts in place. (fig. 17)

    7. Install the hinged trunk at this time. Sliding the bolts through the top of the hinge and through the cowl. (fig. 18) Reach underneath the cowl through the trunk opening and install the supplied washers and nuts. Tighten the bolts to ensure proper fit of the trunk.(fig. 19) Install the grille using the supplied lock to hold the grill in place. (fig. 20)

    8. Slide the trunk back into the hole on the front cowl lining the bolts and spacers from the frame up with the two holes inside the trunk. (fig. 21) Install the acorn nuts. (fig. 22) Install the four smaller stainless Allen head bolts to securely attach the trunk to the cowl. (fig. 23)

    9. Check the fit of the trunk and make sure it will latch securely. You will notice that you still have two rubber bumpers and a foam seal left to install. (fig. 24) These items will be installed once the front cowl is painted.

    10. Now that you have confirmed the fit you are ready to layout your paint scheme. Once you are happy with your layout you are ready to paint. You can now remove the front end components from the car and paint the front end.

    11. With the front end painted you are ready to install the lights into the front cowl. (fig. 25) BE VERY CAREFUL when handling your newly painted cowl and while installing the lights and the cowl onto the car.

    12. Install the lights through the front of the cowl. Install the retaining brackets onto the back of the light from the rear. This is best done off of the car on a bench that has a soft blanket laid down to protect the paint. (again, fig. 25) DO NOT tighten any of the screws until all of the screws are started. If you tighten one of the screws before starting another you will run into misalignment issues with the retaining brackets. Once all of the screws are started you are now ready to tighten the screws and securely mount the lights to the front cowl.

    13. You are now ready to complete final installation of the front end. Reinstall the front end following the same methods and order you did for the dry fit (see above steps 1-9. Remember care MUST be taken with a painted car body so take your time to ensure the best results possible. All holes should already be drilled so you can skip the drill steps this time around. Carefully reinstall the U-nuts onto the appropriate locations taking care not to scratch the paint. Once the front end is firmly installed onto the car, install the rubber bumpers onto the cowl to give a snug quiet fit when the hood is latched. Install the foam rubber seal at this time to snug up the hood, minimize squeaking, and provide some protection from the weather.

    14. Once your car is finished snap a few pictures of your custom handy work and share them with us on our website. We love to see the progress our customers make, and like to see how our parts help you to stand out in the crowd. With your new stylish VIP-R front end installed you can be sure that you’ll be getting a lot of questions about your car, and about your headlights.
